Since 2007, we have been restoring joy and order to households of pet parents.

Our Story

Most dog trainers get into training because they love dogs. Behavior Tails began for a love of creating happy homes for dogs and people. We love behavior and get significantly geeky over the details in the science of dog training and behavior modification. Don’t worry though, we don’t expect our clients to love the science like we do. We do all the geeky work so that you can reap all the rewards in an easy to digest format. We take all of our education and experience and apply it to create harmoniously living situations for pet families. We utilize positive reinforcement training methods and don’t believe in using out dated training methods when there are modern solutions that are much more effective. Our years of training have successfully kept countless number of pets and their families living happy lives together.

Positive training works, it’s fun, and it does not have the potential to cause stress and physical injury to our dogs through the application of force, pain, and intimidation.

Our Philosophy

Our training is rooted in what is best for the individual dog. We believe that management and setting up the environment so that we can stop the repetition of the unwanted behaviors comes first. Each animal shows you what they find valuable or reinforcing and we utilize these things to create the behaviors we want to see. We set up dogs for success. We don’t use fear, force or corrections to get behaviors that we want or to get rid of behaviors we don’t want. We use the science of dog training to assess and adjust every step of the way. Everything that we do with dogs is something that anybody can reproduce, there is no need for special energy, special stance, or even a take charge attitude. We create a relationship between people and their dogs. Our training is based on trust, respect, understanding, and a utilization of science to create changes in behavior. We train both ends of the leash using these same beliefs. Each persons journey with their dog is unique, with specific goals and challenges. There is no “one size fits all” training We are happy to do a lot of the leg work if you have an already full plate or we are happy to coach you every step of the way so you can do it all yourself if you prefer. We are here for you and your dog.
